Thoughts on Preventative Medicine

Dana Ullman says this about disease:

“We need to start describing diseases in terms of their root causes …”

He was writing with humans in mind — cancer, osteoporosis, diabetes. All conditions which produce specific symptoms. Tumors are not cancer but a SYMPTOM of cells gone awry. Osteoporosis is not a ‘disease’ but a CONDITION from a root cause in the body that causes brittle bones. Diabetes is a result of the body’s capability to correctly process sugar.

Cancer, Osteoporosis, Diabetes are not entities unto their own — they are conditions caused by imbalances within the host.

So what are some of the ROOT CAUSES of these imbalances? Lifestyle, excessive negative stressors, lack of nutrition and proper life sustaining foods, lack of proper exercise, a suppressed immune system; all things that CAN be prevented and CAN be reversed. Sometimes the host body is just too weakened by such tremendous imbalances and cannot recover. But, as Dana Ullman says, if cancer is caused by a suppressed immune system, why treat it with substances that utterly DESTROY the immune system? If Diabetes is caused by the body inability to properly process sugar then why keep on feeding the body with those substances that cause the condition to begin with?

What maintains HEALTH?

Health can be defined simply as the condition that is free of dis-ease in body, mind, spirit and emotions.

Notice I hyphenated the word ‘disease’ as when the word is hyphenated the interpretation yields a whole different meaning to the word.

DIS – EASE.

Think about it.

What sustains health? Food, sunlight, exercise, oxygen sustain the body; unconditional love and support helps to sustain the emotions; GOD’s love sustains the spirit …

REAL food, REAL sunlight, REAL exercise, REAL love.

“REAL” is a powerful word that is defined as, true, genuine; not counterfeit, artificial, or imitation.

How much REAL do you get in your life? How much REAL do you give your horse?

The more REAL we get the more we can prevent CONDITIONS of DIS-EASE in our lives and in our horses’ lives.

Hey Folks? — Get real!
