Notes on Atlas

Simply stand behind your horse while a partner stands at his head. Gently pick up his tail by the end of the spine and pull gently while your partner encourages the horse to lower his head. The horse will begin to pull back … and lower his head deeper and deeper as he realizes just how good this stretch feels!  As long as the horse is pulling back on you, keep ahold of the tail with a gentle pull. Then, slowly release.  This is one of the first things I generally find I need to do when doing bodywork on a horse after opening up the meridian.

Releases ::  Lowering of the head, blowing out through nose, shaking of the head, licking and chewing, yawning, shaking.

Here’s a great article from Jim Masterson of “The Masterson Method”  http://www.mastersonmethod.com/pdf/2009_09_barrel_horse_news.pdf with several bodywork ‘exercises’ you can do for your own horse!
