Canola Oil For You and Your Horse? NO!

canolaoil

With so many recommendations to add fat to the horse’s diet many go with what they believe to be a safe, more nutritious oil such as Canola Oil. Public Media has us all believing that its the healthiest oil available. Read what www.foodbabe.com says below:

“It is widely recognized as the healthiest salad and cooking oil available to consumers.” (But it is not!) It was developed through hybridization of rapeseed. Rapeseed oil is toxic because it contains significant amounts of a poisonous substance called erucic acid. Although canola oil contains only trace amounts of erucic acid it is also one of the top 4 genetically modified crops.

Let me reiterate … “it is also one of the top 4 genetically modified crops.” …

UGH!

Genetically Engineered Food Quick Facts:

No crops on the market today are genetically engineered to increase crop yield, resist drought, or reduce chemical fertilizer use. They haven’t helped third world countries, they aren’t feeding the world, and they haven’t lowered food prices at all.
GE food has never been proven safe for human consumption; scientists have no idea what it will do to people who eat it. There is a significant body of scientific evidence that has proven serious human health risks associated with it.
As far as U.S. regulatory agencies are concerned, if a biotech company says its products are safe, that is enough for approval.
Genetically engineered food is not labeled in the United States. At the same time, more than 40 countries have either banned GE food outright or have laws requiring the labeling of it—giving citizens in those countries the freedom to choose not to eat it.

There are many documented health risks associated with GE food. According to independent scientists, human health effects of consuming GE foods can include toxic and allergic reactions, antibiotic resistance, immune suppression, and other serious illnesses.

Dr. David Suzuki, scientist, geneticist, and environmentalist recently commented about GMOs:

“Any scientist that tells you they are safe is either ignorant or lying to you.”

Now, just think of the ‘stuff’ that we feed horses … bagged, processed, CHEAP grains, fats and artificial additives.

And we wonder *why* our horses aren’t thriving?

The same reason our world’s children aren’t thriving, either.

Throw out that jug of Canola oil. And the corn oil. And the vegetable oil. Coconut, of course ORGANIC coconut oil, not only is not genetically modified but has tons of POSITIVE affects on the body (horse and human).

http://www.organicfacts.net tells us about Coconut Oil:

The health benefits of coconut oil include hair care, skin care, stress relief, maintaining cholesterol levels, weight loss, increased immunity, proper digestion and metabolism, relief from kidney problems, heart diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes, HIV and cancer, dental care, and bone strength. These benefits of oil can be attributed to the presence of lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid, and its properties such as antimicrobial, antioxidant, antifungal, antibacterial and soothing properties.

What are ya gonna feed your horses now?

YAY for organic Coconut Oil!
